The redevelopment of the five-hectare site within the Herston Health Precinct began in March 2017. The $1.1 billion dollar transformation of Herston Quarter entails delivery of a mixed-use community hub which will cater for health, residential, commercial and retail opportunities.

Aztech Services was engaged by Delta Group for specialist remediation works across a myriad of areas within the precinct. Works included Asbestos, Lead, Mould & Bacterial remediation in varying capacities and Strip out works to facilitate access to concealed areas.

Total project length spanned 8 months and covered 18,000 square metres of affected surface area. All compliance requirements were met with the provision
of site-specific documentation, regulatory approvals, waste transport, EPA tracking and disposal of waste and evidence of required health surveillance and RPE fit testing for all assigned hazardous material technicians in accordance
with the relevant Codes of Practice.

Like all major construction projects, some delays were encountered in the
initial set up and isolation of existing services by the head contractor. Aztech’s
capacity and commitment to complete this large-scale project assisted the
head client in recuperating some of this lost time by exceeding all contracted program dates, enabling the client to continue works without any unexpected program pressure
