“CMA Contracting engaged Aztech Services Australia to work extensively as part of the Early Works Remediation Project at the former Smelter, Hydro Aluminium Kurri Kurri in Loxford NSW. The works consisted of the rehabilitation of former farmland, rural properties and redundant landfill sites in land within the “buffer zone” of the former Smelter.
This was an extensive rehabilitation program involving 25 individual sites, with rehabilitation completed over a 12-month period through 2018 and 2019. “We have engaged Aztech Services for several asbestos removal services. The nature of our plant is that it is between 50-100 years old and contains a large amount of insulation on furnaces, turbines steam and hot water piping. Aztech have assisted us in projects to strip asbestos blocks from pipework using both enclosures and glove bags. They have made safe and disposed of exposed asbestos gaskets and boards discovered through maintenance activities. They have also provided clean-up tasks around redundant plant where old deteriorated plant has broken down overtime and asbestos has fallen to ground.
